Commencement

Commencement is the symbolic celebration which takes place only once per academic year in June. The large-scale ceremony allows graduates and their families to celebrate their achievement. As part of this traditional rite of passage, the accomplishment and contribution to the DePaul learning community is recognized. Visit the University Commencement website for specific details regarding Commencement.  The deadline for RSVPing for Commencement is in early May of that respective academic year.

Steps To Commencement

Step 1. The most important step is to successfully apply for degree conferral in order to participate in the ceremony. If you do not have an active degree conferral application, you cannot RSVP or participate in the commencement ceremony.

Step 2. RSVP for the ceremony by ordering your cap and gown from Herff Jones.  There is no cost to borrow a cap and gown for commencement so long as it is reserved prior to the deadline and returned immediately after the ceremony.

Step 3. Make sure to select College of Science and Health and the correct ceremony date/time in the Herff Jones website. Please verify your degree and major for the record.  Information about Commencement will be required when ordering and picking up your regalia. If you have any questions, please contact the College of Science and Health Office of Advising and Student Services at (773) 325-8490 or CSHGraduation@depaul.edu.

Step 4. Review additional commencement information online via the University Commencement website. Successfully completing all degree conferral and commencement steps ensures that your name will appear on our list of ceremony participants.

Commencement Festivities

The University Commencement website is a great resource that includes information about commencement festivities and parking for guests. The website also includes an application for those interested in being the commencement student speaker.

Cap and Gown Distribution

The distribution of cap and gown will be on Monday, June 5th and Tuesday, June 6th 2017, on the Lincoln Park Campus from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. You must pick up your cap and gown on campus prior to Commencement. If you are unable to pick up your cap and gown in person, you may send a designee with a letter indicating your permission. Please include your name and student ID number. Keep in mind that lunch hour is the busiest distribution time.
