Become a top-notch scientist, researcher and scholar

DePaul’s MS in Chemistry prepares you for advanced work in chemistry and biochemistry, and for further graduate study. Through either a thesis or non-thesis degree option, you’ll learn the theory and ethical practice of Chemistry within the scientific method and gain context for appreciating the history of Chemistry in society.

Our facilities include seven dedicated teaching laboratories, the latest instrumentation and a machine shop. Faculty have active research programs in

  • biophysics
  • chemical physics
  • computational chemistry
  • geochemistry
  • inorganic chemistry
  • medicinal chemistry
  • organic chemistry and synthesis
  • physical chemistry

Classes are held in the evenings on the Lincoln Park Campus. The program can be completed in two years.

For international students: this is a STEM-designated program, which can qualify you to extend your post-graduation stay in the United States.

Accomplished researchers and engaged teachers

Study with Professor Wendy S. Wolbach, whose research examines the elemental carbon produced during or following giant meteorite impacts. She’s just one of our many faculty members who conduct cutting-edge research and bring their expertise in teaching and mentorship to the classroom.

Scholarships

A small number of competitive graduate assistantships are available each year for full-time students. These assistantships pay for up to 30 quarter hours of courses per year and an $11,845 annual stipend. Learn more about the financial aid and scholarship opportunities available to you.
