Track Requirements

​Chemistry (MS) students may tailor their program by choosing a research-focussed thesis track or opt for a broader preparation through the non-thesis track. The requirements for both tracks are shown below.

Thesis Track

Up to one additional course at the 400-level to complete 16 credit hours in the track0 - 4

In addition, Thesis Track students must write a thesis based on their research project and successfully pass a two-part oral exam. The first part of the examination consists of the thesis presentation and defense; the second part is an oral examination concerning the student's general knowledge of chemistry.

Non-thesis Track

  • Four additional 4 credit-hour courses at the 400-level.  One of these may be CHE 497 (research).
