Lauren Maxon Ferguson, M.S., CCC-SLP is a clinical associate professor in the Speech-Language Pathology Program at DePaul University. She earned her B.A. from Elmhurst University and M.S. from Saint Xavier University. Professor Ferguson has worked at all levels of public schools, from pre-k through transition programming, as well as in outpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing facilities, private practice, and university clinical settings.
Professor Ferguson’s areas of clinical interest include neurodiversity-affirming care for autistic young adults, person and family-centered treatment for stuttering, and counseling. She has a strong interest in clinical education, including through simulation experiences, and has worked as a clinical supervisor in two previous roles before coming to DePaul. Her teaching emphasizes the development of reflective, ethical, and client-centered clinicians.
Professor Ferguson has presented and disseminated research at the state, national, and international levels on topics such as clinical supervision, stuttering therapy, and clinical simulation. She is a certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a lifelong learner, earning the Award for Continuing Education from ASHA over each renewal cycle.
