Dr. Mary K. Bowman, DNP, WHNP-BC, APN (they/them) is a clinician specialized in sexual and reproductive health for all genders, and an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing. After becoming a nurse through the accelerated graduate-entry program at University of Illinois at Chicago, they graduated with a Master's of Science in Nursing in 2013 (UIC) and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2018 (DePaul). Dr. Bowman has been in practice for 11 years, providing care across the city of Chicago in affordable community health settings. Their research foci include U.S. nurse organized labor history, best practices in clinical care for gender-diverse individuals, and ethics of the U.S. healthcare system. They strive to be an engaging and honest educator, who encourages students to become critical and creative in their provision of nursing and advanced practice nursing care.
