Dr. Burkard earned his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame in 2016. He then held visiting positions at Randolph-Macon College and Denison University before joining the faculty at DePaul University in 2021.
Dr. Burkard's research interests are in symplectic geometry, in particular, studying the homotopy propetries of symplectic embeddings of ellipsoids into an ellipsoid or ball in 4 dimensions.
