Innovation Commons Launch

Join us in congratulating our community for the successful launch of Innovation Commons!

The Innovation Commons grand opening took place on Saturday, August 17, serving as a living laboratory for students, practitioners, and community members to co-create culturally responsive, trauma-informed solutions in real-time, grounded in lived experience.
As a core initiative under the Innovation Commons, Healing at the River reclaims communal spaces—starting with laundromats—as accessible, culturally resonant health environments. In honor of African heritage, where rivers served as places of cleansing, connection, and wisdom exchange, they gathered to heal in familiar public spaces.

The day included:
The front of the Innovation Commons space, a

- Free physical exams and health screenings (BP, glucose, mental wellness)
- Health and wellness resource tables
- A roundtable conversation with community stakeholders, health systems, the State, and academic partners
