Request to Exceed Maximum Hours (formerly 20+ Hour Request)

CSH undergraduate students must obtain approval from the Office of Advising and Student Services in order to register for more than 20 quarter hours in a single term during the academic year or more than 16 quarter hours during the summer. Any sophomore, junior or senior who wants to enroll in more than the maximum hours permitted for the term must submit a request form to the CSH Office of Advising and Student Services for the excess quarter hour load. Students majoring in biological sciences, health sciences, or psychology may submit the request to their departmental staff advisor. Students must meet the following criteria prior to submitting a request to exceed maximum hours in a term.

  • have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 at DePaul
  • have at least 44 quarter hours earned at DePaul
  • have successfully completed four courses (16 quarter hours) in any previous quarter at DePaul

There is a per-credit tuition charge for an excess load over 18 quarter hours. Summer tuition is charged per quarter hour.
