The National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSL​HA) is the only national student organization for pre-professionals studying communication sciences and disorders (CSD) recognized by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Established in 1972, NSSLHA supports 11,700+ members and 340+ chapters at colleges and universities nationwide.

Professor McShane earned a B.S. in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from Northwestern University. She has worked in acute inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient, and university clinical settings, as seen in her faculty biography page.

NSSLHA membership information

The DePaul NSSLHA Chapter accepts new members at the beginning of each school year in the Autumn Quarter. New members have until November 1st to confirm membership dues with $25. Contact Professor Kate McShane for more information.

Chapter events​

The faculty sponsor and Speech Language Pathology program director must sign off on all NSSLHA and student leadership events. Please download the event permission form and complete it for all events.
