Meet the Leadership Team

Veronica Oczowinski, President, SLP Cohort 2

“NSSLHA is a wonderful way to get involved in the speech and language community and begin to build a relationship with ASHA. We have the opportunity as pre-professionals to come together and bond over our passion for speech-language pathology and other shared interests. It is a great way to network and have fun. NSSLHA is what we make of it, and I hope to continue with events, volunteering, and professional development opportunities that members can learn from and bring with them as they move forward in their careers. With collaboration, communication, and enjoyment, I aim to uphold this chapter’s Gold Honors awarded by NSSLHA.”

Maria Villalobos, Vice President, SLP Cohort 2

“NSSLHA is a great opportunity to get socially involved and spread awareness of what Speech-Language Pathology is and what we do for our community. Through this organization, we live the Vincentian mission of serving the numerous diverse communities in the Chicago area that are in need. We learn about different settings, populations, and specializations; and it also provides an avenue for further enrichment in the field. I hope to improve my teamwork skills and learn from my peers as well guest speakers and from any other activities we may do. Being part of this team is a great way to also form connections with members of the community related to the services we provide and beyond.”

Grace Contreras, Treasurer, SLP Cohort 2

“NSSLHA is an amazing association that allows students to explore their interests and passions. It provides amazing opportunities to grow and develop leadership skills that will be invaluable in all areas of life.
“I hope to learn more about my cohort’s interest and develop a space that they will enjoy. Our executive committee is thrilled about planning upcoming events for our members and DePaul students.”
