Program highlights
A strong commitment to diversity
The Clinical Psychology program is strongly committed to diversity. Diversity issues are emphasized in all of our clinical courses, as well as in practice. Out program has received three American Psychological Association awards, two related to overall excellence while the third is focused on diversity.
Extensive practicum opportunities
Our Clinical Psychology program provides state-of-the-art training beginning in our in-house clinic, the DePaul Family and Community Services (DFCS). The DFCS is a vibrant community mental health center serving predominantly ethnic minority, low-income youth and families. In addition to psychological assessment, psychotherapy and case management services, students placed at the DFCS receive supervised training in delivery of several evidence-based interventions including Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Act and Adapt and the Mother-Daughter Program.
You will complete your first year of practicum at the DFCS during the second year of your doctoral portion of the MA/PhD program, but some students choose to remain at the DFCS for advanced practice. In addition to the DFCS, you may select from a variety of Chicago-area externship sites for advanced training. Recent placements include:
