Physics

Welcome to the Department of Physics and Astrophysics.

Physicists study and apply the laws of nature to answer fundamental questions about the evolution of the universe, the nature of light and matter, and the behavior of the natural world.

Students of the DePaul University Department of Physics and Astrophysics will find a faculty that is fully committed to their success. Faculty actively engage with students in the classroom and in research. The department prides itself on being student-centered and provides ample opportunities for students to conduct research,  engage in teaching, and participate in social events through our Society of Physics Students club.

We offer a BS degree in Physics and a BS degree in Astrophysics.  The BS degree in physics can be earned in one of four different concentrations: Standard, Computational, Interdisciplinary, and a joint engineering program with Illinois Institute of Technology.  We also offer a two-year MS degree in Physics.

Feel free to contact the department for a tour, to sit in on a class, or to discuss any questions you may have.
