The McNair Scholars Program, named after the late Dr. Ronald E. McNair (a NASA astronaut who perished during the launch of the Space Shuttle Challenger), is designed to prepare undergraduate students for doctoral studies through involvement in research and other scholarly activities. The program aims to increase the number of students in doctoral programs from underrepresented groups. The Office of Multicultural Student Success (OMSS) provides scholarships to facilitate the retention, persistence, and graduation of first-generation students and students of color who demonstrate financial need and a commitment to service and academic excellence. All students who apply for a DePaul-sponsored study abroad program by specific deadlines are automatically considered for scholarship funding based on their financial need (as determined by FAFSA) and their academic record (as determined by GPA).
