Trauma Psychology Graduate Certificate

The certificate in Trauma Psychology provides a multifaceted approach to understanding the effects of trauma, with a focus on human interactions. The information from this integrated set of four courses is applicable to a wide range of professions and practitioners.

The trauma courses included in this certificate address a broad range of the causes of trauma and the subsequent effects experienced by community members. These courses are an integral part of the MS in Community Psychology program designed for students interested in working within communities to affect changes that enhance the opportunities for all members, with a focus on the most vulnerable. It is not a clinically focused certificate.

The requirements for admission into the Trauma Psychology Graduate Certificate program are:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Successful completion (with a grade of C- or better) of the following undergraduate coursework:
    • PSY 105 Introduction to Psychology I or PSY 106 Introduction to Psychology II, or equivalent
    • One upper-level Psychology course; PSY 317 or above, or equivalent.

The admission process and review of applicants will be managed by the Office of Graduate Admissions via the online application portal and following a similar procedure used by the existing MS graduate programs offered by the Department of Psychology.
