Add to your knowledge. Multiply the possibilities.
Do you want to learn to think, problem-solve, and communicate like a pro? Then the mathematical sciences may be right for you.
In the Department of Mathematical Sciences we are passionate about sharing our love for the subject. We offer courses in mathematics, statistics, and actuarial science. We host student groups in each of these areas, and we support a vibrant research atmosphere. We are also the home of the College of Science and Health's Statistical Consulting Center.
Undergraduate programs of study
Our undergraduate program offers Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in Mathematics with seven possible areas of specialization. In conjunction with the College of Computing and Digital Media, we offer a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Data Science, and a joint Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mathematics and Computer Science, and in conjunction with the Driehaus College of Business, we offer a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Actuarial Science. We also offer minors in Mathematics and Statistics, which can be fitting complements to a variety of degree programs throughout the university.
Graduate programs of study
Our graduate program offers Master of Science (MS) degrees in Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Pure Mathematics, and Mathematics for Teaching, and a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Mathematics Education. Our graduate courses are offered on nights and weekends, and some courses in the Applied Mathematics and Applied Statistics programs are offered at DePaul's O'Hare campus.
In the spring of their junior year, undergraduate mathematics majors can apply to enter one of our combined degree programs. These programs enable students to complete both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in about five years.
