Assistant or Associate Professor of Statistics  
The Department of Mathematical Sciences at DePaul University invites applications for a tenure-track position in statistics at the Assistant/Associate Professor level beginning September 2012. In addition to offering a broad array of mathematics and statistics courses at the undergraduate level, the department offers graduate programs leading to Masters Degrees in Applied Statistics and Applied Mathematics with concentration in Actuarial Science.

The department seeks candidates actively engaged in research and strongly committed to teaching. The candidate is expected to have a Ph.D. degree in statistics and candidates with background and interest in actuarial sciences or biostatistics are especially encouraged to apply.

The department has undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs at the elementary, middle, and secondary school levels. Because it is expected that a portion of the candidate's teaching and service will contribute to these programs, applicants should include details about any of their experiences in teaching courses for pre-service or in-service teachers. The department also offers masters degrees in applied mathematics, applied statistics, and . pure mathematics. It has research groups in algebra, analysis, combinatorics, probability, and statistics, but strong candidates in all research areas are encouraged to apply.

The typical teaching load for faculty who are actively engaged in research and service is two courses per quarter. Applicants must have a Ph.D. by December 1, 2011. DePaul University seeks to develop a faculty that reflects the diversity of its student body and the city of Chicago.
