The department administers the Master of Science in Science Education, a program to prepare master teachers in science at the middle school level. The program addresses a great need for content-based graduate study to enhance the teaching of science at the middle school level. The program integrates content with pedagogy, is inquiry-based, and integrates mathematics and technology with science.

The STEM Studies Department also offers innovative science courses and special programs for undergraduates to engage highly diverse audiences in rich, contemporary science content.
