Traditional Degree Option: 4+

Remember pre-health is not a major. It’s a program designed to help you explore your interests, identify attractive health careers and prepare you to become a competitive applicant to professional school.

Students typically spend four years completing their undergraduate degree prior to entering a graduate health professions program. That’s why we call this option “4+.” No matter what your major is we’ll spend those four years helping you prepare for the next step in a range of health careers, including:

  • Chiropractic
  • Clinical and Community Psychology
  • Dentistry
  • Medicine (MD or DO)
  • Nursing
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Optometry
  • Pathologists’ Assistant
  • Pharmacy
  • Physical Therapy
  • Physician Assistant
  • Podiatry
  • Public Health
  • Veterinary Medicine

"DePaul really focuses on the students, and that makes all the difference. I could have gone to college anywhere, but I picked DePaul because I thought the professors would motivate me and still have my back. And I was right."

Calvin (Biology ’07)

Harvard Medical School

"DePaul gave me my first taste of meaningful research, including a summer internship at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science. Now, I’m working on a chemo-preventative method for treating and preventing colon cancer, focused on underserved communities in Chicago. My next stop? Medical school in 2014."
