The degree of master's of science in chemistry is designed to prepare students for advanced work in the profession of Chemistry or Biochemistry and for further graduate study.
Students planning to integrate a B.S. and M.S. degree program at DePaul should contact the Director of the Chemistry Graduate Program as undergraduate juniors (or earlier in some cases) whether they can begin studies in the graduate school that are applicable toward a master's of science.
For admission, students must have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a minimum GPA of 2.75
- Calculus: One year
- Physics, with laboratory: One year
- GRE scores for both General and Subject (Chemistry) tests (these are waived for DePaul undergraduates with GPA of 2.75 or higher); Institution Code: 1165
- For International Students: TOEFL score of at least 590 (paper) or 96 (on-line). (International students with slightly lower TOEFL scores who otherwise meet entrance requirements may be admitted conditionally into a joint program with DePaul's English Language Academy (ELA) . Students have up to three quarters (one year) to study English intensely and raise their TOEFL score to 590 or 96, at which time they may begin the Chemistry M.S. program. For questions about this program, contact either the graduate program director or the ELA director.
